South Korean actor Kim Soo-hyun has recently been embroiled in a scandal involving his alleged past relationship with the late actress Kim Sae-ron, who was reportedly only 15 at the time.
His previously innocent and charming image has been shattered by the controversy.
Adding fuel to the fire, new allegations have emerged suggesting that Kim Soo-hyun has falsified his age.
According to reports, his official birth year is listed as 1988, but sources claim he was actually born in 1986, making him 39 years old.
If this claim is true, it means he was 14 years older than Kim Sae-ron at the time of their alleged relationship.
The controversy initially erupted when rumors surfaced that Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Sae-ron had been in a six-year relationship starting in 2015, when she was only 15. After Kim Sae-ron was involved in a drunk driving scandal, Kim Soo-hyun allegedly turned his back on her, leaving her to face a hefty 700 million KRW contract penalty alone, which some believe led to her tragic downfall.
Kim Soo-hyun's agency initially denied all allegations but later admitted to dating Kim Sae-ron, claiming their relationship only began between 2019 and 2020, when she was legally an adult.
In response, Kim Sae-ron’s family has announced a press conference scheduled for 2 PM KST on the 17th to reveal their side of the story.
On March 16, the YouTube channel 'Hengsu Research Institute' released another explosive claim, stating that Kim Soo-hyun's official birthdate is February 16, 1988, but in reality, he was born in 1986. If proven true, this would further damage his credibility and raise serious concerns about his past statements.
However, Kim Soo-hyun has yet to confirm or deny the age fraud allegations.
Scandals involving age falsification are not new in the South Korean entertainment industry.
Could this controversy lead to increased scrutiny of celebrity records and how agencies manipulate public perception?.
