The highly anticipated Korean remake of Jay Chou's classic romance film 'Secret,' titled 'Secret: Give Me a Piano,' is set to premiere on March 14, White Day.
Starring EXO’s D.O. (Do Kyung-soo), Won Jin-ah, and Shin Ye-eun, the film has already created a buzz among fans.
Even Jay Chou himself took to social media to endorse the movie, saying, 'Do you still remember ‘Secret’? ‘Secret: Give Me a Piano’ is hitting theaters on March 14, let’s go watch it!'
One of the biggest surprises of the remake is that Do Kyung-soo personally performed the piano scenes, impressing both the production team and his friends.
The original film, released 18 years ago, remains a cultural phenomenon, with its filming locations in Taiwan attracting thousands of Korean tourists each year.
The Korean version, highly anticipated by fans, has already broken box office records for Chinese-language film remakes in Korea.
The film was produced by HIVE Media Corp, the company behind ‘Evil New World’ and ‘Harbin,’ with director Seo Yoo-min leading the project.
Do Kyung-soo, a long-time fan of the original film, admitted feeling immense pressure in both accepting the role and during filming.
However, he ultimately expressed great satisfaction with the final product, stating, 'This movie gave me the opportunity to challenge myself with piano playing and romance acting.
Since I have always been a fan of the original, I felt this was an important role for me to take on.
'
One of the most iconic scenes in ‘Secret’ was Jay Chou’s breathtaking four-hand piano duet with Kwai Lun-mei and the intense school piano battle.
While D.O. did not originally know how to play the piano, he worked hard to master the performance.
After watching the film, his friends were shocked and asked, 'Was that really you playing?' to which he responded with a proud smile.
